    • Sir Edward Coke held the office of Recorder of Coventry.
      He held the office of Recorder of Norwich.
      He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Norfolk.
      He held the office of Speaker, House of Commons.
      He held the office of Solicitor-General in 1592.
      He held the office of Attorney-General in 1593.
      He was invested as a Knight in 1603.
      He held the office of Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas in 1606.
      He held the office of Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench in 1613.
      He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) before 1621.
      In 1621 he was imprisoned in the Tower of London for championing Parliamentary rights.
      In 1628 he proposed and framed the Petition of Right.
      He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Buckingham in 1628.
      He wrote the book Commentary on the Tenures of Littleton.
