From the viewpoint of the thorobred researcher without doubt the two most important pioneer Hunter Valley bloodhorse breeders were the brothers Robert and Helenus Scott. They were both born at Bombay india sons of Dr Helenus Scott and his wife Augusta Maria who was a daugfhter of Colonel Charles Frederick. Due to failing health after thirty years service in India Dr Scott took his family back to England. Then. intending to just four years in New South Wales making a family fortune the father and two sons sailed from England on the Britomart. However an ill-fated Dr Helenus Scott died suddenly at sea on the 16th November 1821 and was buried shortly afterwards at the Cape of Good Hope.
